Robert M. Simonsen, Lt Col, USAF (Retired)
Electronic Warfare Officer | Combat Veteran | Civil Servant
Lt Col (Ret) Robert M. Simonsen, known to friends as Rob and affectionately called Boudreaux by his military brothers and sisters, proudly served in the United States Air Force for over two decades as a B-52H Electronic Warfare Officer. Stationed primarily at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, he played a critical role in America's long-range strike capabilities and electronic combat operations.
A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, Rob earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1995 and went on to complete a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University in 2001. His academic foundation, combined with his operational expertise, led to a highly respected career in both military and federal service.
Rob flew multiple combat sorties in support of Operation Allied Force and Operation Enduring Freedom, contributing to mission success through expert employment of electronic warfare tactics and strategic coordination.
After retiring from active duty in 2022, Rob continued serving the nation as a member of the U.S. Civil Service, officially concluding his government career on 30 September 2025.
Rob’s personal journey is just as meaningful. He met his wife during flight school while she was on vacation in Pensacola, Florida, beginning a partnership that has endured through the highs and challenges of military life. Together, they raised two sons, Clay (35) and Alex (27), and now enjoy being grandparents to Layla (4) and Josephine (1).
With a legacy of leadership, service, and dedication to both country and family, Rob "Boudreaux" Simonsen continues to inspire those who know him — a proud Airman, devoted husband and father, and forever a warrior at heart.
